Prague Sightseeing: Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge, peroxided through Vltava, is perhaps the most famous landmark of Prague. Its construction began in 1357 in order for the royal delegation from the palace unhindered to the city. Karl IV personally laid the first stone at the base of the bridge on a certain day and the time he advised astrologers.

The story of Karlova Bridge consists of legends. At the end of the XVII century, a sculptural composition was created here from the images of saints, martyrs and especially distinguished before the church of believers. The most famous of them is a monument to the priest Jan Nepomuntsky, who preserved the secret of the confession of the queen even under torture. It is said that if you touch the pedestal, the desire to be taken at this moment will certainly be fulfilled.

On both sides of Karlova Bridge are the towers. One with historical exposure, the other – with a sightseeing platform. However, the main museum exposition dedicated to the history of the construction of the bridge is two steps on the right bank of Vltava, in the former monastic hospital of the crusader orders. And on the bridge itself sold souvenirs and antiques. There are always many artists, musicians and artists trying to earn. Through Charles Bridge, almost every sightseeing route in Prague passes: tourists attracts not only the bridge itself and his story, but also the opportunity to admire the fantastic view of the city discovering from here.

Museum of Karlova Bridge: May-September from 10:00 to 20:00, October-April from 10:00 to 18:00.
Bridge towers: November-February from 10:00 to 18:00, March from 10:00 to 20:00, April-September from 10:00 to 22:00, October from 10:00 to 20:00.
