Planetists recognized in white spots on cere salty sediments
Planetologists stated that they figured out in the riddle of white spots in the cratery of the rank on the surface of the Cerecher dwarf planet. According to scientists, this deposits of salt, which are the product of the eruption of salt volcanoes.
"We believe that stains – gigantic sediments of salts, the source of which is Cercher. Some comet or asteroid could not bring them on the planet. Their source is its subsoil, some geological processes inside them, "said the head of the scientific team of the DAWN probe Christopher Russell at the EPSC-DPS scientific conference.
Mysterious white spots were found on the surface of the dwarf planet in February 2015, after which the scientific world was divided into two camps: some claimed that these are ice deposits, others – that some brilliant salts.
After the planet approached the DAWN satellite, scientists were able to measure the reflective ability of brilliant sections of the crater. Planetologists indicate that if the deposits had a water and were ice, they would reflect much more light and blinded the equipment of the automatic station is stronger than they do it now.
Experts believe that in the bowels of Ceres can occur geological processes that update salt sediments on the surface. Scientists gave this phenomenon the name "Salt Volcanoes" and are now trying to understand whether there are more examples in the solar system.
Also remains unexplored by the chemical composition of deposits. According to experts, salt is difficult to distinguish from each other without special means. Scientists are trying to approximately determine what type of these are specifically, focusing on the breed of Crater Okkator and its surroundings.
At the same time, the head of the scientific team of the DAWN probe noted that in the future, when researchers will have new information, another version of the origin of mysterious white spots can be put forward, RIA Novosti reports.
