Piton de Neges (Piton-des-Neigees)

Piton de Neges (Piton des Neigees) – The extinct volcano on the island of Reunion, the height of which is 3069 m. Located in the north-west of the island and is considered the highest point in the Indian Ocean.

Together with the acting volcano, Piton de la Furno takes two thirds of the island. Python de Gentle surrounded by three huge and luxurious mountain amphitheater: Circus Silao, Mafat and Salazi. Strongly destroyed volcano is not active for about 20,000 years.

To get to the top of Piton de Nezh, there are three routes of medium difficulty: through the Circus Salazi, through the Circus Silao, and the third through the spray de Kafr. All of them are found in a mountain hut about an hour walk below the peak of Kaverne Dufour (La Caverne Dufour). Tourists often stop here after the long day of climbing the mountain, and the early in the morning of the next day they go on to watch the sunrise from the top.

Climbing on peak can be carried out in one day, which will take 10-12 hours, but it is preferable to choose a two-day hike with overnight in a hut or a tent, accommodation in which it is better to book in advance.

Climbing from mouth-de-Kafr in time will be about 8 hours, and up to 5 hours down with a change in a height of 1700 meters.
