Brief description of the sights

Mount Takhtaly

Mount Takhtaly is located in the Kemer region, which is not far from Antalya. It is because of the proximity to Antalya and hotels here organized a tourist attraction – a cable car to the top of the mountain and the sightseeing platform. Map of the region Kemer with the designation of Mount Takhtaly, see our article "Kemer Resort".

Takhtaly Mountain Height – 2365 meters. Mount is not the highest in Turkey, but only 66th in height. Guides say that the ancient Greeks called her Olympus and believed that the gods live on her top. And it is really true. In the ancient Greeks, there was no consensus about what the gods live on which mountain. Therefore, there are several mountains in the world that are called "Olympus", and everything claims to be considered a place of residence of the gods.

For tourists here two entertainment. First – a ride on a cable car to a height of 2365 meters, line length – 4360 meters. The second is the observation deck on top of which exciting views on the coast and mountain. About both entertainment let’s talk in detail in the second part of our article.

Excursion or yourself?

The price of organized excursions from tour operators or in street agencies – 50-60 dollars. It is very profitable, since only a ticket to the cable car costs 33 euros (back-trip). In many cases, the excursion is even cheaper than an independent trip!

However, the excursion has its big minuses. First, come to the top to the most "rush hour", and it will be very crowded in the cable car carriage and on top. Secondly, the time on top will be limited. Thirdly, you will stand in the queues.
