In February 2011, residents and guests of San Diego will have the opportunity to get acquainted with a rich culture of the region, visiting the city museums in just half. To do this, you need to take a free subscription to visit the San Diego museums in the Macy’s department store or neighbor shopping centers Temecula and El Centro. The subscription is valid from the 1st to February 28. It gives the right to take advantage of a 50 percent discount when visiting 40 museums, cultural attractions and historical sites by a group that includes no more than four people.
- Museum-aircraft carrier USS Midway, San Diego Maritime Museum and a new museum for children in the center of San Diego;
- Museum of Contemporary San Diego Art and Birch Aquarium at the Institute of Oceanography in La Hoye;
- Institute of Arts LUX and San Diego Botanical Garden in the Insinitas region;
- 13 world-class museums, including the Mingei International Museum, Photographic Art Museum, Ruben Flit Scientific Center and the San Diego Art Museum in Balboa Park, which is often called "Western Smithsonian".
Museum month is held in San Diego since 1989 on the initiative of the Museum Council of the city. The purpose of the action is the popularization of urban museums, historical and cultural monuments. In 2010, in the framework of the San Diego museum promotion, nearly 24,000 people visited subscriptions.
