Festivals and holidays on Barbados

The main holiday of the country – the Festival of Crop-Over, passing at the end of July or early August. Appeated in colonial times as a holiday harvesting of sugar cane harvest, these days this three-week festival is a colorful mixture of musical representations, culinary competitions, fairs, costume parades and fireworks. As part of the holiday, the musical competitions of the Peak-o-de-crop on Music Calypso are held.
