Romania Cities: Bucharest
The capital of the country is Bucharest, lies on the Earth of Ancient Valahia, in the south of the country. Founded in 1459, the city became the capital of Romania in 1862., And now this is the largest cultural and industrial center of the country. Bucharest leaves a rather dual impression. On the one hand, this is an interesting historical center, with rich architecture and many historical monuments. On the other hand, hundreds of buildings faceless architecture, widespread launch and non-dimensional characterize the unenviable economic position of the whole country.
The main attraction of the city is "Old Bucharest" With its narrow streets, small squares and large number of historical monuments. Interesting Palace of Justice (1864 g.), the presidential palace in the building of the Palace Cottage (1893-1895.), Palace Constacudilo (1900 g.), Royal Palace (1937.), Triumphal Arch (1920 g.), the building of the National Bank (1885.), Piazza-Republika, Ateney, University Square, Kurtie-century (Old Dvor), Caravan-Saray Halyul-Luu-Manuk, courtyard of Karul-Kuren ("WHO Beers", 1879.), university and architectural buildings. Special attention deserves the huge Parliament Palace, which occupies second place in the world.
Many old churches have been preserved – Patriarchate Cathedral (XVII in.), St. Cathedral. George old (XIX in.), churches. Arona (XV in.), Stavropoleos (1724 g.), Patriarch (1665 g.) and Krocentschka, as well as Monasteries Plumbuita (1559-1568.), Antim (1715 g.) and Mihai-Vodde.
The best way to get acquainted with the history and culture of the country is her museums. In Bucharest, you can visit the Romanian Art Museum at the Royal Palace, the National Historical Museum in the building of the Palace of Mail (1889.), National Museum, Celers, Museum of the village (17 hectare, one of the world’s first ethnographic open-air museums) on Lake Herastheu, Geological Museum, Museum of Technology, Museum of Nature History "Grigore Antippa" and etc.
In spite of any cataclysms, Bucharest continues to be one of the most "Green" cities of Eastern Europe. Such parks like Chizmijiu (1850 g.), Herastheu (1936 g.), Parkul-Carol (1906 g.) and a botanical garden near the Palace of Cook, are widely known even outside the country.
In the vicinity of the city, among dozens of lakes, many no less interesting historical monuments are concentrated – Palaces Stirbay (1835-1849., Now this is a comfortable hotel) and Mother (1702 g.), monasteries Blueberry (XVII B.), Tsignesht (1780 g.), Calderushan (1632-1654.), Passary (1847 g.), Buffering, Famous monastery Singagi (1408 g.) on the island in the middle of the same lake, the estate Jeshet (1644 G.) and zoo in Banis.
