Cities of Spain: Santa Cruz de Tenerife
The capital and second largest city is the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Santa Cruz De Tenerife) is located on the northeast coast, in the only more or less level at the foot of the Masiso de Anaga mountain range.
The city was founded by the Spaniards in 1494 and was a basic base base for both the conquest of the islands and for numerous expeditions to the shores of the new light. Now his harbor is considered one of the busiest in Spain, and along with shopping ships, cruise liners are constantly entering here, following Europe through the Canary Islands in the Caribbean Sea. Therefore, the city itself is little similar to the traditional small settlements for Canar – now it is a large and quite modern shopping and tourist port, the entire center of which is built up with high-rise buildings from glass and concrete, and the outskirts have already merged with quarters of the first capital of the island – La Lagun.
