Palma de Mallorca (Palma, Palma de Mallorca) – the capital of the Balearic Islands archipelago and one of the largest ports of the Mediterranean, who is considered to be the same and one of the oldests – already at the Phoenicians, this place was an important transshipment base between the ports of the Iberian Peninsula and Levant. However, as the capital, the city is very young – he acquired this status only in 1983, when Balerars were allocated to a separate administrative unit of Spain.
Palma is one of the most fashionable cities in the region. The entire center of the city is one extensive ensemble of luxury residential areas, shopping streets, tangled alleys and renovated old buildings, and almost all of this built in the last 20-30 years with a clear visibility for tourism. From old urban walls and boulevards left very little, only from the harbor are well visible fragments of medieval walls.

The main landmark of the city – Cathedral (XIV-XIX centuries.), dominating over the coastline and the wedding oldest part of the city. Special attention deserves Net Cathedral 44 meters high and a length of 121 meters, which makes it one of the highest gothic structures in Europe, as well as its fantastic lighting system (1904-1914.), developed by Gaudi. The temple complex also arranged Museum of Cathedral, small Art Museum (works of the local school of painting XIV-XV centuries.) and the palace of the Moorish rulers of the island – Palau de L’Falmudaina (X-XII centuries.).

The most attractive part of the city is behind the cathedral. It’s very similar to typical Arabic "Medina" Old Quarter, which is a labyrinth of streets and lanes, where you can find and elegant Arab baths, and located in the XV century mansion Museum Mallorca, and Basilica of St. Frasca (XIII B., Former Arab Soap Factory), and Statue of Hunipero Serra (Local priest, sent in 1768 in the new light and, according to legends, founded San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco), and the first Christian church on the island – Santa Eulalia (XII-XIV BB.), and the old town hall in the style of the late Renaissance.
Outside the old quarter settled Castle Bellver (XIV B., Rare for Europe Sample Round Fortress, inside which the castle Museum is now equipped, 3 km west of the city center), old Trade exchange and Archbishop Palace, and Museum of Hoang Miro (A large number of works of this famous Catalan Surrealist). Also worth visiting the museum district "Spanish village" (Pueblo Español).
Beaches in Palme de Mallorca
The main point of attraction around the capital of the island is undoubtedly beaches. Along the coast of Bay Badia de Palma stretch first-class beaches Palma Nova, Kan-Pastilla, Saren And others (the total length of suitable coast on this small island is 554 km!).

Around Palma de Mallorca
You can visit a pretty green town Andracha and nearby resort Sant Ell with the bird island of Drorera. Interestingly, to protect against the pirates of the city in Mallorca, ancient times was built in some distance from the coast, so today nothing prevents building luxurious shores of the island hotels and resort areas.
