Greece City: Tira (Santorin Island)

The main city of Santorin Islands – Tire (Thira, Fira, Greeks say a little softer – almost "Fira"), often called, like any other major city of Cyclades – Choir.

It stretches along the western coast of Santorina, south of Cape Tourlos and practically opposite the island of Nea-Kamen. Almost completely rebuilt after the destructive earthquake of 1956, Tire is literally cling to its quarters per edge of a huge caldera. Beautiful panorama, which opens literally from anywhere in the city, acquires a special flavor at sunset when the sun sits down for the hills of Tiracy and Na-Kameni. And the city’s streets themselves, although they cannot boast an abundance of old monuments, but very good by themselves. Tourists attract art galleries, souvenir shops, shops, cafes and taverns. From the terrace of almost every tavern there is a delightful look. Plato, Marinaatos and Jacques-Yves Kusto claimed that Santorin, volcano and caldera – these are the remnants of the Atlantis disappeared here.
