The capital and the largest city of Lower Normandy – Kan (Caen) lies 15 km south of the div-sur-measure and coast.

The city, which nine hundred years ago was the residence of Wilhelm the Conqueror, and today it remains an impressive historical monument, even despite the terrible bombing and battles of the Second World.

Around the castle you can see the restored Saint-Pierre Church (XIV B.) And Old Port Bass-Saint-Pierre, as well as famous Treasury Department, in which Richard Lion’s heart spent his famous feast before being sent to the crusade.
Abbey Om In the western end, Rue St-Pierre was also founded by Wilhelm – now within a huge Romanesque Saint Etienne Church You can see his grave. Related to the Church of the Abbey Building were built in the XVIII century and now in them Town Hall (Hotel de Ville).
In the other end of the city center, on Rue Des Chanoines, is located Dam Abbey, Founded by Wilhelm Matilda.
