Cities of France: Annecy

60 km south of the Lake Geneva, at an altitude of 445 meters above sea level, lies one of the most beautiful lakes of France – Turquoise Annecy (Lac d’Annecy), limited from the east peaks of La Tourna, and from the West – a long wooded mountain range le – Semid.

The scenic scenic town, lying at the very northernmost point of the lake, is famous for its embankment, Tiu (connects the lake with the Fierzer River), incredibly beautiful old mansions, tiny Fort Palee del Il (XII B., Now it is located here City Museum), old Castle (XVI B.), the former main residence of the Dukes Namura and Geneva (now there are meetings here Castle Museum and Regional Observatory Alpine Lakes, which are open from June to September daily, from 10.30 to 18.00; From October to May – daily, except Thursday, from 10.00 to 17.00; Login – 4.7 euros). Literally a few steps of the north of the castle rises Saint-Maurice Church (XV B.), in which the excellent collection of items of religious art of the XV-XVI centuries is located.

You can go on a shift tour (WWW.Annecy-Croisieres.COM) on the lake or pass by bike on a special route (40 km) around its shores. On the eastern shore of the lake rises Castle Chateau de Menton (XII-XIX centuries.) – the birthplace of St. Bernard, patron of climbers. And practically opposite it, but on the West Bank of the Lake, around the village Dion (Duingt), is the area in which almost two thousand are concentrated (!) Summer villas and castles of different eras, some of which lies in the ruins, and the other carefully restored. From the lake of Lake, a hundred kilometers of pedestrian trail and trekking trails are missing.
