Located at the intersection of two important transalpian routes – Felber Tauern and Grossglockner Pass, a long time was an important intermediate link for traveling to Italy. The Romans first rated the potential of this place and founded the settlement of Aguntuum 5 km east of the modern city, near the village Dölzakh (Dolsach), where you can still see his meager ruins.
