Cities of Kyrgyzstan: Osh

Osh – the second largest city of Kyrgyzstan is located in the south-west of the country, near the northern foot of the Kichi Alai Range, near the Uzbek border.

The name of the city itself, according to, comes from the word "Hosh" ("enough", "enough") who said Suleiman, coming to this land (however, many associate his name with a distorted word "Guishan" – So called the capital of the Davan State I century to N. Eh, lying just on the site of modern Osh). Although Osh is on the most modest estimation of about 2500 years, quite a few of the evidence has been preserved from its former majestity. The main attraction is Suleiman-TOO (Suluiman Mountain) or Tahti Suleiman ("Suleiman’s throne", That is, the Biblical King Solomon), located right in the city center. Already in the 10th century, pilgrims from all over Asia are drawn to this inconspicuous view of the rocky hill, because it is believed that it is here that the prophet Suleican turned to God, and his foreheads and knees remained on the stones. Over this holy for every Muslim place Muhammad Zahiriddin Babur (1483-1530.), the greatness of Timur and the founder of the Dynasty of the Great Mughal, built a small hipper (Kelju) with Michrab, on the site of which today a white-name mosque and recreated by archival sources "Babura house". According to legends, it is on this mountain that a woman can ask God to give her a child to her, and legendary leads to the top "Test path", on which, according to legends, never can go through any incorrect wife. Numerous petroglyphs are also evidenced about the antiquity of this place (about 440, the IIX-II centuries are dated. to N. NS.), which is abounding the slopes and caves of the mountain. Most of the mountain is now part of the National Museum-Reserve "Great Silk Path" and includes Mausoleum Asaf Ibn-Burokya, Bath ruins (XI-XII centuries., Now there is an open-air museum), Tahti Suleiman Mosque and Mosque Jami Ravat Abdullahan (Both Xi.).

Osh collapses include the Madrasa of Alyosbek Parawan, Mohamedboek Muhamedboy Türk Hal Muratbaev, Madrasa Hazret Damulla Mohammed Rudyk Ahund Aglam (all XII-XVII centuries.), Orthodox Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk Church (the beginning of the twentieth century c), the town of Ak-Buura, the historical and local history museums, the Museum of the local crafts, the memorial complex "Eternal flame" (1976) with Memorial "Grieving mother" (1990), Kyrgyz Drama Man, Art Gallery "Saltanat", Monuments of A. Oozbekov, Sultan Ibraimov, Kormanzhan-Dank, Toktogul Satylganov, Nitraisala and Moldenz, and, of course, colorful and ever-noisy bazaar on the banks of the Ak-Buura River, which is considered not less than the city than the city.

There are also many interesting places around the city, ranging from the resort zones of the leather-celochet, Chil-Umbe, Absher-Ata, Kara Koy, Zhyuu-Suu, leather-calene, Achyk-Tash or sources of mineral waters in the car-shore, caves "Chil-Gusts", and ending with the tourist zones of Kara-Kuldzhinsky district (Oh-Tal, Agica, Kulun-Cole and others).
