Cities of Spain: San Cristobal de la Laguna (Tenerife Island)
Live university city La Laguna (Full name – San Cristobal de la Laguna, San Cristobal De La Laguna) was the first major settlement of Tenerife and his capital for more than two hundred years.
The well-preserved historical center is a vivid example of the Canary architecture, and the city itself remains a cultural, religious and educational center of Tenerife. Located significantly higher than Santa Cruz, and therefore possessing a much more cool and rainy climate, the city received its name from the once lying nearby lagoon, which dried in 1837 as a result of the growth of forest harvesting.
